MARCUS BY GOLDMAN SACHS

PLATFORM: Website, mobile, TABLET

BACKGROUND

About Marcus

Marcus is Goldman Sachs’ consumer-facing lending product. Marcus’ users are millennials and GS Bank customers.

CHALLENGE

My team helped redesign the loans platform for mobile-first, improved loans new user registration, and integrated the new savings product into a new mega-navigation and logged-in global profile.

REDESIGNING THE LOANS HOMEPAGE

Mobile-first responsive design

Our marketing stakeholders were rolling out a campaign quickly, so my initial responsibilities involved aligning with the branding agency and creating a few visual concepts for A/B Testing. We also created responsive banners to explore sending with email campaigns or testing on other channels.

BUILDING OUT A CLEAR LOANS USER FLOW

To roll out more robust loans products, I partnered with 4 product managers to co-create and evolve the user flow. Below is the user flow we all ended up signing off on.

NEW USER REGISTRATION LOANS IDEATION

Partnered with 2 other designers, our UX team explored different concepts of the flow on desktop and mobile. Areas we focused on were connecting a bank and security (confirming identity) - highlighted as pain points from our user research.

NAVIGATION (SAVINGS INTEGRATION)

The navigation was redesigned with the purpose of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) while giving the users the option of diverse products. Initial exploration revealed that there were too many products in the menu to create a top bar navigation. The design decision was made to include all products under a Hamburger menu, which would not affect SEO in a top drawer. Profile settings would live in a separate dropdown so the user would be able to access all of her personalized settings in one location.

GLOBAL PROFILE (SAVINGS INTEGRATION)

The Global Profile was redesigned because of the integration of the Savings product. Design considerations involved retaining the Lending Product's Profile page, while adding fields from the Savings Product.

Edit and error states were also created and integrated into Marcus’ design systems. To ensure user privacy and security, legal text was also added to drop within a tooltip to educate users why their PII was needed.
